We’re now a week away from the Rolling Stone UK Awards 2024 and it’s our great pleasure to announce the winner of The Global Icon Award, supported by Visit West Hollywood: Nile Rodgers.

In a career spanning over fifty years, Rodgers has racked up a list of achievements that other musicians could only dare to dream of. He brought David Bowie‘s Lets Dance to life, worked with Madonna on ‘Like A Virgin’ and was at the epicentre of New York’s disco scene at Studio 54 with Chic. He has since continued to work with the finest musicians and artists, from Daft Punk to George Michael via Pharrell Williams and Beyoncé.

But all these years later, he’s still refusing to hang up his Fender Stratocaster. He’s a music legend still doing what he does best and he’ll be present at the Roundhouse next Thursday (November 28) to pick up this most deserved of gongs.

The latest nomination comes after we previously confirmed the artists shortlisted for The Breakthrough AwardThe Artist Award, The Album AwardThe Group AwardThe Live Act AwardThe Festival Award, the Song of the Year AwardThe Play Next Award, The Record Label Award, the Television Award and The Film Award.

The Rolling Stone UK Awards 2024 take place at the Roundhouse, London on November 28, with performances from JADE, English Teacher, Confidence Man and the cast of Tina: The Tina Turner Musical.

Winners, presenters and VIP guests will also be whisked to and from the historic North London venue in style in luxury Volvo cars, while a multi-platform editorial campaign will be utilising Rolling Stone UK ’s presence in print and digital forms, online and across social platforms to create a moment of a scale rarely seen in UK music media.
