New Order to be honoured with The Icon Award at Rolling Stone UK Awards 2024
The band will pick up the award at next week’s ceremony at London’s Roundhouse
The second Rolling Stone UK Awards take place in London next week, and we’re delighted to announced that The Icon Award, supported by Visit West Hollywood, will go to New Order.
When the band emerged from the ashes of Joy Division at the dawn of the 1980s, they created a dance/rock hybrid that would define the decade and remain every bit as fresh and influential some 40 years later.
They’re still delivering one of the best live shows around too, ensuring that a new generation of fans can discover their music. The very definition of iconic, in our eyes.
They’ll be in attendance next week too, joining our eclectic array of winners on the night.
The Icon Award at the first ever Rolling Stone UK Awards last year was given to Ozzy Osbourne, who said in a video message: “I never ever thought I’d be a living icon, never thought I’d be doing this for more than a couple of years, but around 50 years on and I’m getting an award from Rolling Stone UK!”
The latest announcement comes after we previously confirmed the artists shortlisted for The Breakthrough Award, The Artist Award, The Album Award, The Group Award, The Live Act Award, The Festival Award, the Song of the Year Award, The Play Next Award, The Record Label Award, the Television Award and The Film Award.
The Rolling Stone UK Awards 2024 take place at the Roundhouse, London on November 28, with performances from JADE, English Teacher, Confidence Man and the cast of Tina: The Musical.
Winners, presenters and VIP guests will also be whisked to and from the historic North London venue in style in luxury Volvo cars, while a multi-platform editorial campaign will be utilising Rolling Stone UK ’s presence in print and digital forms, online and across social platforms to create a moment of a scale rarely seen in UK music media.
