‘Saturday Night Live’ to launch UK remake next year

Saturday Night Live will launch in the UK next year, 50 years after the American TV show revolutionised comedy in the US.
A UK version of the show will launch on Sky Max and streaming service NOW from 2026 and SNL stalwart Lorne Michaels will be behind the scenes as executive producer when the show launches next year.
Sky says that the show will follow the exact same format as its American equivalent, with a selection of top British comics, celebrities and musicians all taking part.
Each episode traditionally sees an A-list host deliver an opening monologue, before taking part in a selection of different sketches with the show’s regular ensemble cast.

Sky have confirmed that it will follow the exact same format as its American counterpart with a slew of top Brit comedians, celebrities and musicians all expected to be a part of the programme.
The likes of Will Ferrell, Tina Fey and Eddie Murphy launched their back off their career, and Sky will be hoping that the UK show follows suit.
The network says: “Sky is bringing NBC’s legendary late-night comedy showcase, Saturday Night Live, to the UK and Ireland in 2026. A star-studded line-up of hosts will take to the stage to declare, ‘Live from London, it’s Saturday Night!’ in this brand-new edition of the programme.”
SNL creator Lorne Michaels is set to executive produce Saturday Night Live UK, in addition to continuing to executive produce SNL on NBC in the US. SNL UK will be produced by Broadway Video and Universal Television Alternative Studio’s UK production team.
