Daisy May Cooper recruits Carole Baskin to help settle publisher pay dispute
"You guys are askin' for a Baskin by not paying Daisy what she's owed"
‘This Country’ star Daisy May Cooper has sought help from ‘Tiger King’ star Carole Baskin to try and settle a financial dispute with the publisher of her new memoir.
The actress and comedian claims that Penguin imprint Michael Joseph has not paid her for the final instalment of her new book ‘Don’t Laugh, It Will Only Encourage Her’.
Cooper, who plays Kerry Mucklowe in BBC series ‘This Country’, shared a video of Baskin recorded through celebrity video request service Cameo.
In the clip posted to Instagram, Baskin said: “Pay Daisy her money. What is the matter with you guys? Pay her what you owe her, for crying out loud.
Cooper captioned the post: “Penguin still aren’t paying me my final installment, despite doing all the press/ everything they fucking asked for with the book. So I am refusing to communicate unless it’s through carol Baskin.”
Baskin continued: “Daisy is not going to be talking to you guys any more, she’s going to go through Carole Baskin and bring the message through me to you, because you guys are askin’ for a Baskin by not paying Daisy what she’s owed.
“What were you thinking? Daisy and I are going to come after you and we are going to put you in a cage, just like the animals that you are for not paying what she is owed.
“We are going to be coming after you with nets and leashes and tranquiliser darts, for crying out loud. Yeah, we are just kidding.”
Baskin, who is currently suing Netflix over to her appearance in ‘Tiger King 2’, charges £182 for videos for a personal video and £364 for business.
She closed the video by saying “I don’t know what is happening here, but Daisy wants to get paid.
“I usually sign off by saying ‘Stay cool, cats’ but you’re not being cool cats, so pay Daisy and then maybe we can have a cool cats and kittens conversation.”
Actor and director Paul Feig commented: “You are truly a genius, Daisy. Will you be my publicist?”
Little Mix’s Jade Thirlwall and Pixie Lott commented a series of laughing and crying emojis, while presenter Stacey Dooley wrote, “Ur a genius”, with comedian Jason Manford adding “This is amazing”.
Baskin is currently suing Netflix for using footage of her in ‘Tiger King 2’, claiming the streaming service did not have permission to use it for the second series.
Owner of Big Cat Rescue and Joe Exotic’s arch enemy in the wildly popular Netflix series, Baskin accused the streamer and Royal Goode Productions of breach of contract.
