‘Donny boys’ Yungblud and Louis Tomlinson strike up friendship at Rolling Stone UK Awards in collaboration with Rémy Martin
'We'll go see the football together!'
Doncaster natives Yungblud and Louis Tomlinson met for the first time on the red carpet at the Rolling Stone UK Awards 2023 in collaboration with Rémy Martin last night, striking up a new friendship.
At the arrivals to the show at London’s Roundhouse, the pair – from the same south Yorkshire hometown – embraced on the red carpet.
Asked a moment later by Rolling Stone UK whether we had witnessed “a little mini Donny reunion” with Tomlinson, Yungblud said: “Donny boys! I don’t think we’ve actually ever met properly so tonight, right here on your carpet, we said hello for the first time!”
“Could this be the making of a beautiful friendship?” we asked, to which Yungblud replied: “I think it could be. We’ll go see the football together,” proposing future visits to watch Doncaster Rovers.

Later on in the evening, Yungblud won the Live Act Award ahead of his new pal Tomlinson and Loyle Carner, Nova Twins, Elton John and Rina Sawayama.
Accepting the award from Jodie Harsh, he said: “Live music and live playing is everything to me. It’s all I ever wanted to do. I just want to connect with people and find a family that is my fucking own.”
He added: “In a world of artificial intelligence you can’t fucking beat human connection. You can’t bet pouring your heart out on stage, fucking screaming, everything. That’s what we all got into this for.”
Dominic Harrison then presented Sharon Osbourne with the Icon Award on behalf of her husband Ozzy Osbourne to close the show.
The first Rolling Stone UK Awards kicked off with a performance from The Last Dinner Party, while successive performances came from Kenya Grace and Tomlinson.
