Foals frontman Yannis Philippakis is “thinking about” a new album with his band, the frontman has told Rolling Stone UK.

Philippakis picked up The Artist Award at last week’s Rolling Stone UK Awards 2024 for his solo project Yannis & the Yaw.

Speaking to us on the red carpet at the Roundhouse event, he said: “I’m thinking about a Foals record, for sure.”

He added: “We just took a holiday together in Iceland and we were chatting about a record, so I reckon next year, keep your eyes peeled.”

The band last released an album in 2022 with Life Is Yours.

Picking up The Artist Award from Aisling Bea at the Awards alongside bandmate Vincent Taurelle, Philippakis discussed how his debut EP Lagos Paris London sees him honour his late friend and collaborator Tony Allen, who he worked with on the record nearly a decade ago.

Philippakis said: “None of this would have been possible witout Tony Allen, who we made the record with. All of this needs to go up to Tony.”

He added: “We wouldn’t be here without Tony Allen. Life is short, we’re here for a good time not a long time – let’s make it count. This one’s for Tony.”

Speaking about Foals’ current state to Rolling Stone UK earlier this year, Yannis said: “We’ve been so productive and a victim of our own success.

“I find it baffling how productive we’ve been with Foals considering the touring. It’s been constantly fertile since we were 19. I am excited to do more but it’s important to have this brief inhalation and to look around and find out where we’re at.”
