Wolf Alice postpone 2022 UK headline tour due to COVID concerns

Wolf Alice have postponed their 2022 UK headline tour due to concerns around the rise in COVID cases.
The London band were scheduled to hit the road today (January 5) in support of their acclaimed third album ‘Blue Weekend’, having wrapped up a run of North American shows late last year.
Taking to social media last night (January 4), Wolf Alice announced that the gigs have been delayed amid the “volatile” situation caused by the Omicron variant of the coronavirus. New dates are set to be confirmed in the coming weeks.
“We are absolutely gutted to announce that we have decided to postpone our upcoming tour this January,” the group wrote in a statement.
“As the Covid pandemic seems to be getting worse and with an overwhelming number of daily cases it feels like a particularly volatile time to go ahead with such a large tour.
“People’s safety and access to our concerts is of the utmost importance to us and we feel that is something we can’t ensure at these large indoor shows.”
Tickets purchased for the postponed gigs will remain valid, with refunds available to those who are unable to attend the new dates.
“We are sorry to do this but we feel like this is the responsible decision for the current climate of the pandemic,” the statement concluded. You can read it in full above and find the full list of postponed concerts below.
It comes after Wolf Alice pushed back shows in Glasgow and Dublin on Christmas Eve.

Meanwhile, it’s been confirmed that Ellie Rowsell and co. will return to Reading & Leeds festivals this summer. They are due to deliver a set immediately before Arctic Monkeys on the Main Stage East.
Speaking to Rolling Stone UK last year, Wolf Alice opened up about the process of making the “emotional” ‘Blue Weekend’ during the pandemic. “For the first time we’ve had more time to explore than we ever had in the studio,” said bassist Theo Ellis. “We were there for a long time!”
As for the experience of returning to the stage, singer Rowsell explained: “Playing live music again has been amazing. It was only when we got on stage again that I didn’t quite realise how much I had missed it. How much a big part of our lives it was. It just felt right.”
