Watch Dave Grohl rock out in dynamic cover of Van Halen’s ‘Jump’
The Foo Fighters frontman and producer Greg Kurstin have performed their fourth cover to celebrate Hanukkah
Dave Grohl and Greg Kurstin are back for a fourth night of covers to celebrate Hanukkah, this time performing a rendition of Van Halen’s ‘Jump’ – listen to the cover below.
The Foo Fighters frontman and producer Kurstin take the performance off stage for this one, hopping around the studio and leaping down a staircase in honour of the track’s dynamic namesake.
The song was released as the latest instalment in the pair’s ongoing series in which they cover a Jewish musician for each day of the Festival of Lights.
“Quite possibly the loudest and proudest of hard rocking Jews,” the video description read. “David Lee Roth has gone on record crediting his Bar Mitzvah preparation as his earliest vocal training. He became a rockstar the day he became a man.”

Grohl has made his admiration for Van Halen known in the past, having covered ‘Ain’t Talking ‘Bout Love’ on Foo Fighters’ 2014-2015 ‘Sonic Highways’ world tour.
So far in this year’s sessions the duo have covered The Ramones’ ‘Blitzkrieg Bop’, Lisa Loeb’s ‘Stay (I Missed You)’, and Barry Manilow’s ‘Copacabana’.
Last year, after performing renditions from artists like Drake and Beastie Boys, Grohl wrote about what the festive series meant to him.
“As 2020 comes to a close and another Hanukkah ends (my first!) I am reminded of the two things that have gotten me through this year: music and hope,” he said.
“This project, which initially began as a silly idea, grew to represent something much more important to me. It showed me that the simple gesture of spreading joy and happiness goes a long way, and as we look forward, we should all make an effort to do so, no matter how many candles are left to light on the menorah.”
Meanwhile, Foo Fighters have pulled the Minneapolis show from their 2022 North America tour due to the venue’s “refusal to agree to the band’s Covid safety measures”.
The band were due to play the Huntington Bank Stadium on August 3 but said they are now working on finding a “suitable replacement”.
In a statement posted to the band’s Twitter, they wrote: “Due to Huntington Bank Stadium’s refusal to agree to the band’s COVID safety measures, Foo Fighters are unable to perform at that venue.
“We apologise for any inconvenience and are working on finding a suitable replacement — one that will prioritise the health and safety of everyone working and attending the show.”
