The Libertines announce ‘Up The Bracket’ anniversary show at Wembley Arena
Pete, Carl and co. will play their 2002 debut album "and other classics" at the summer gig
The Libertines have announced details of a massive summer arena show in London to mark 20 years of their debut album, ‘Up The Bracket’
Pete Doherty, Carl Barat, Gary Powell and John Hassall’s first album came out in 2002 via Rough Trade, and they have already announced details of four anniversary shows celebrating the album this summer.
The band have now confirmed that they will also headline London’s Wembley Arena on Saturday, July 23, promising a set including ‘Up The Bracket’ in full “plus other classics”.

Alongside the tour dates, a recent statement promised that Rough Trade – who released ‘Up The Bracket’ in 2002 – will “be unveiling a series of all bells and whistles, no stone unturned, vault-pillaging releases to mark ‘Up The Bracket’’s momentous birthday”
The Libertines’ drummer Gary Powell also recently gave an update on the band’s next album.
The last record from the indie icons came in 2015’s ‘Anthems For Doomed Youth’, but Powell says the band are continuing to take time with its follow-up.
“Recording is going slowly, but methodically, we know we can’t re-invent the wheel regarding our musical creativity,” Powell told Rolling Stone UK.
“We are trying new ways of approaching writing and hopefully new sonic variants that will entice a new audience without disenfranchising our old one.”
