The Last Dinner Party announce new ‘Acoustics and Covers’ version of debut album
The expanded ‘Prelude to Ecstacy’ is being previewed with a cover of Sparks’ ‘This Town Ain’t Big Enough for Both of Us’.
The Last Dinner Party have announced an expanded edition of debut album Prelude to Ecstasy, previewed with a new Sparks cover.
The band’s debut album came out in February, hitting Number One in the UK albums chart with the biggest opening week sales (32,800) for a Number One debut album by a band in nine years, beaten last in 2015 by Years & Years‘ Communion. It is also nominated for the 2024 Mercury Prize.
In a five-star review of Prelude to Ecstasy, Rolling Stone UK said: “These winners of Rolling Stone UK’s first ever Rising Star Award have created a record that doesn’t so much deliver on the hype as it smashes through the notion entirely. Come December, you’d be a fool to bet against this becoming a defining album of the year.”
Now, a new expanded edition of the album, titled Acoustics and Covers, will be released on October 11, with a second disc featuring live and stripped-back versions of songs from the album, as well as four covers.
