The Kid LAROI teases Tame Impala collaboration on debut album
The Australian rapper and singer shared new pictures of the pair in the studio together on Instagram
The Kid LAROI has suggested a potential collaboration with Tame Impala may be coming on his forthcoming debut album.
The Australian rapper and singer, real name Charlton Howard, teased that the psychedelic pop-rock frontman Kevin Parker may feature on the new release, sharing pictures of the two in the studio on his Instagram story.
In the first picture, The Kid Laroi is sitting on the floor in sunglasses, while Parker is beside him on a swivel chair. A cryptic sequence of emojis accompanies the picture: a pill, police car, a couple either side of a love heart, and glass of whiskey.
The second photo is a monochrome shot of the pair from behind as they sit at studio decks and a laptop.
Parker’s potential feature comes after hints of a slew of new collaborations with Internet Money, Mark Ronson, SZA and Diana Ross.
LAROI’s debut album follows his chart topping hit of the summer ‘Stay’ with Justin Bieber. The track featured on his third mixtape ‘F*ck Love 3: Over You’.
Last month he also announced his first world tour for 2022 following a busy summer festival run in 2021.
Speaking about the tour announcement in a statement, he said: “I am beyond excited to share this experience with you all. It’s always been a dream of mine to headline a global tour.
“I cannot wait to see my fans all around the world and give them something that they won’t ever forget. It’s been a long time coming,” he said in an earlier statement.”
Speaking to NME in July, he explained how the collaboration with Bieber came about.
“I actually never asked him how he found my shit,” he said.
“He just DM’d me one day on Instagram and was just like, ‘You got the sauce’, and I responded back and was like, ‘Yo, what’s up? I’m a big fan’. He liked my message and that was it from there.”
The pair performed at the MTV Video Music Award in September for LAROI’s awards debut.
LAROI also revealed last week that will also be working on a project that explores the origins behind his musical moniker, which is a reference to his mother’s Indigenous heritage.
