Taylor Swift ‘at a complete loss’ over Southport stabbings
Two children were killed and others are in a critical condition after an attack during a Swift-themed dance class this week.
Taylor Swift has said she’s “completely in shock” in a message posted to Instagram after yesterday’s (July 29) stabbings in Southport, Merseyside.
Two children were killed after an attack during a Swift-themed dance class on Monday, with six other children and two adults who tried to protect them now in a critical condition.
A Cardiff-born, Lancashire-based 17-year-old has been arrested on suspicion of murder and attempted murder, and is in custody.
In a statement posted to Instagram, Swift wrote: “The horror of yesterday’s attack in Southport is washing over me continuously and I’m just completely in shock…
“The loss of life and innocence, and the horrendous trauma inflicted on everyone who was there, the families and first responders.
She added: “These were just little kids at a dance class. I am at a complete loss for how to ever convey my sympathies to these families.”
Chief Constable Kennedy said police officers called to the scene found children “subjected to a ferocious attack and had suffered serious injuries.”
She added: “It is understood that the children were attending a Taylor Swift event at a dance school when the offender, armed with a knife, walked into the premises and started to attack the children inside.”
At the time of the attack, the Hart Space venue was hosting a “Taylor Swift Yoga and Dance Workshop” aimed at children aged between six and 11 years old.
