Snoop Dogg says he is giving up smoking weed
It's quite a lifestyle change for the rapper.
Snoop Dogg has shared a statement saying that he is giving up smoking weed.
In a note posted to social media, the rapper – synonymous with smoking marijuana and rapping about it in his songs – shared the news that he is giving up the drug.
“After much consideration and conversation with my family, I have decided to give up smoke.” he wrote, adding: “Please respect my privacy at this time.”
See the note below.
As the most notorious stoner in music, the news brings about a significant lifestyle change for Snoop, and will also put people out of work.
The rapper has previously estimated that he smokes around 80 blunts per day, and employs a full-time joint roller.
Last year, the member of staff estimated that she had rolled around half a million joints for Snoop in her time working for him.
One musical star who did get to light up with the rapper before he quit was Ed Sheeran, who recently recalled a time when he got so high with Snoop Dogg that he ended up struggling to see.
Speaking to Conan O’Brien on the Conan Needs A Friend podcast, Sheeran explained how he met the rapper backstage earlier this year after performing at the Rod Laver Arena in Melbourne, Australia.
Of their smoking session, Sheeran recalled: “I don’t really smoke at all but I was in the dressing room and they were just like blunt for blunt for blunt for blunt. I was like, ‘I guess at some point during the night, I have to, just to say I smoked with Snoop Dogg.’”
Sheeran went on: “He was like, ‘Do you want some?’ so I have a bit and I was like, ‘I don’t feel too bad, this is good’. Then I have a bit more, and then I have a bit more, and then I have a bit more. I just remember looking at him and being like, ‘I can’t see right now.’”
