Self Esteem announce biggest UK tour yet for 2023
The 'Prioritise Pleasure' victory lap includes a massive London show
By Joe Goggins
Self Esteem have announced their biggest UK tour to date for 2023.
Having just wrapped up a second British headline run in support of last year’s rave-reviewed ‘Prioritise Pleasure’, Rebecca Taylor’s pop project will head back out on a victory lap next February and March. Confirming the news on Twitter, Taylor said: “I TOUR THIS ALL THE TIME. BACK IN THE HABIT NEXT YEAR.”
Kicking off at Cambridge’s Junction on February 21st, the tour will then take in appearances in Hull, Nottingham, Belfast, Manchester, Birmingham, Gateshead, Brighton and Cardiff, before culminating in a massive gig at London’s Hammersmith Apollo – their biggest headline show to date. You can see the dates in full below.
Beginning life as a solo outlet after the demise of Sheffield two-piece Slow Club in 2017, Self Esteem’s acclaimed debut album, 2019’s ‘Compliments Please’, was followed last year by ‘Prioritise Pleasure’, which was a staple of the 2021 year-end lists – including being named album of the year by The Times and The i. The Guardian’s end-of-year coverage, meanwhile, saw them score a rare double win, being named album of the year and also clinching song of the year for lead single ‘I Do This All the Time’.
Self Esteem’s last run of UK dates wrapped up earlier this month, which included an emotional homecoming at The Octagon in Sheffield. Elsewhere, in a five-star review for Rolling Stone UK, Linsey Teggert called their Newcastle gig at Wylam Brewery “a show so spectacular that it’s hard to choose a stand-out,” as well as “an absolute masterclass in how to put on a flawless pop performance.”
The 2023 gigs will follow a packed summer of festival appearances that includes slots at Glastonbury, Latitude, London’s All Points East, and Glasgow’s TRNSMT. Full festival dates are viewable here. Tickets for the 2023 shows go on sale here at 9am on Thursday (March 31), with a mailing list pre-sale to precede it tomorrow morning (March 30), again at 9am.
