Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman cameo in new Stray Kids music video ‘Chk Chk Boom’
Deadpool and Wolverine help the K-Pop stars cause some chaos in NYC.
Stray Kids are no strangers to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Earlier this year, when attending the Met Gala in New York, they met Thor’s Chris Hemsworth who proceeded to physically pick up a few of the members. When asked about it he replied “I loved them, they were just a bundle of energy and joy. He later added: “I just picked them up and had a little wrestle with them.”
In early July, Australian members (minus honorary ‘Aussie Boy’ Hyunjin) and the creators of “that’s not very noice” Bang Chan and Felix posted on Instagram with their new ‘besties’ Ryan and Hugh.
Weeks later, on 17th July, Marvel announced that Stray Kids would be on the soundtrack for the new Deadpool & Wolverine film that’s set for release on July 26.
STAYS thought that would be the end of connection, especially as the group continued on at their usual super-sonic speed of doing two European concerts, including headlining BST Hyde Park with a mega-watt electrifying set, and dropping teasers for their new song ‘Chk Chk Boom,’ with no Deadpool or Wolverine in sight. The focus was on Lee Know’s chorus with his stellar vocals in Spanish, as the group displayed some of their trademark high-energy choreography, lead by Hyunjin.
MCU was all but forgotten by STAYS, until this morning, when the eight-piece group dropped their new music video for ‘Chk Chk Boom’ the title track of their new album ‘ATE.’ Hugh Jackman takes on the role of Weatherman Wolverine, with his Adamantium claws coming in handy for his meteorological tasks, while Ryan Reynolds is the disgruntled diva Deadpool/newsreader.
At the end of their video, in character as Deadpool, having helped the group take on a dystopian Manhattan, Reynolds sheepishly asks SKZ if they’re looking for an older, less agile member to the group. He perhaps knows he would not be able to keep up with Stray Kids’ super-human performance skills, whether it be with HAN and Changbin‘s incredibly fast rapping, Bang Chan, I.N, Lee Know and Seungmin‘s vocals or Hyunjin and Lee Know‘s dancing. Perhaps Felix‘s unworldly, ultra-deep voice, Stray Kids’ agent of Chaos Seungmin, or the super-leadership skills of Bang Chan could be used to fight evil in the next Marvel film?
‘Chk Chk Boom’ is the title track for the K-Pop group’s ninth mini album ‘ATE” and comprises of eight tracks (including a sped-up ‘Festival version’ of their lead single.) Chang Bin shared also shared some behind the scenes images of himself, I.N and Ryan. The album follows the beginning of Stray Kids’ world tour that starts at the beginning of August.
