Ringo Starr, Nandi Bushell and other legendary drummers perform charity cover of ‘Come Together’
The performance was part of WhyHunger’s ‘Drum Together’ campaign
Ringo Starr has joined viral drumming sensation Nandi Bushell and other legendary musicians to perform a cover of The Beatles’ classic song ‘Come Together’.
Performing alongside Bushell, the 11-year-old who took the internet by storm last year for her epic drumming duels with Dave Grohl, the cover was delivered as part of WhyHunger’s ‘Drum Together’ campaign, also paying tribute to the iconic song’s anniversary.
The nonprofit’s mission is to end world hunger, by providing “critical resources to support grassroots movements and fuel community solutions rooted in social, environmental, racial and economic justice.”
There were more than 100 drummers in participation, including Pearl James’s Matt Cameron, Red Hot Chili Peppers’ Chad Smith, Max Weinberg, Jim Keltner, Cindy Blackman Santana, Brian Frasier-Moore and others.
Speaking about the performance, Starr said: “We all can agree that no kid should be hungry, and everyone should have access to nutritious food.
“This is a great cause that I’ve supported in the past and a great track – one of my favorite Beatles songs. So when Jim Keltner asked me to join all these other drummers I was happy to. Peace and love.”
The performance was produced by Tony Award winner Brian Resnick and Drumming’s Global Ambassador Dom Famularo.
Speaking about the charitable collaboration, Keltner said: “I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to help unite the world through music and to help lift up such an important cause alongside my beloved drumming community. Hunger affects far too many across the globe, and I urge everyone to join forces with us to support WhyHunger’s work to end hunger.”

Last month, Bushell finally got to perform live with Foo Fighters at The Forum in Los Angeles, after back and forth drum-offs with frontman Grohl.
The young drummer performed a rendition of ‘Everlong’ with the band, after Grohl admitting that she “kept kicking my ass over and over again”.
Bushell told the BBC: “It was so much fun. It was the best night of my entire life and I’ve had a lot of good nights.”
