Rammstein’s Richard Kruspe revealed that their new album will be released next year ahead of their massive world tour.
Fans of the German band have been waiting patiently for new music, and this album will be Rammstein’s first album since 2019’s untitled release.
Guitarist Kruspe confirmed the news in an interview with German website Stern.De.
When asked if he could reveal anything about a new Rammstein record, he said: “The album is expected to be released next year before the tour.”
News of Rammstein’s eighth studio album first emerged back in February of this year.
The band revealed they had been busy making new music during lockdown.
Keyboardist Christian Lorenz said at the time: “The fact that we couldn’t perform live increased our creativity. We had more time to think of new things and less distraction. As a result, we recorded a record that we hadn’t planned on.”
News of the record ahead of the tour means fans won’t have too much longer to wait, as their world dates kick off in May next year.
It will begin on May 15, 2022, in Prague. The band will also play at Coventry’s Building Society Arena on June 26, followed by Cardiff’s Principality Stadium on June 30.
The band then head to North America, starting off in Montreal on August 21 before finishing in Mexico City on October 4.
Last month the band teased what is to come from the as-yet-untitled record when they previewed a new track.
They shared it with French astronaut Thomas Pesquet, who was onboard the International Space Station.
The new tune was played to him by drummer Christoph Schneider, who wrote on Instagram: “It felt like a child’s dream coming true for me – talking to a person living in the sky, sharing a glimpse of his view, realizing again how small we all are compared to the depth of the universe.”
“He was the first to listen to one of our new songs from the upcoming album. It premiered in the sky, which is an honour for us.”
The band’s frontman, Till Lindemann also announced a series of solo European tour dates for next year, after releasing a single, ‘Ich Hasse Kinder’ in June.
