Queen’s Brian May urges fans to get vaccinated after catching Covid
"I beg you, and implore you, to go and get jabbed if you’re not already"

Queen guitarist Brian May has urged people to get vaccinated after he contracted Covid-19 at a party earlier this month.
Posting on Instagram, the rock star shared a photo of him holding a positive lateral flow test and told fans he made the “wrong decision” by attending a party.
May explained that he and wife Anita Dobson had been “incredibly careful” with social plans throughout the pandemic, but attended a birthday lunch with a select group of friends on December 11.
“We decided we would go to a birthday lunch and we thought, well this is the last social function we would go to – not that we go to many anyway, we’ll chance it, everybody’s going to be triple-jabbed, everybody’s going to be with one of these things [lateral flow test] which says you’ll be negative on the morning,” he explained.
May said the party was “set up very safely”, but he now regrets his decision after catching the virus.
Both he and wife Anita had experienced Covid symptoms two days later, and on Tuesday eight people who had attended the party had “already tested positive”.
“We’re testing the whole time and we’re testing negative,” he said in the video. “And I realise they had been testing negative up until this point.”
The Queen guitarist and his wife took another lateral flow test at this point, which revealed they had been infected with the virus.
He described his experience of the virus as “truly horrible” and “the worst flu you can imagine”, but said it had taken three days for the lateral flow tests “to show anything”.
Calling on fans to get the jab, he added: “I can’t emphasise to you enough: This is not the response that my body would have made on its own. It’s making this response because I’ve had three Pfizer jabs.
“And I beg you, and implore you, to go and get jabbed if you’re not already. Because you need the help.”
