Primal Scream to headline Wide Awake festival with ‘Screamadelica’ set
Bicep, Caribou and more are also playing the second edition of the London festival next summer
London festival Wide Awake has announced details of its 2022 event, headlined by Primal Scream and Bicep.
The festival, held in Brixton’s Brockwell Park, made its debut for a one-day event this September, headlined by IDLES and Shame.
For 2022, the festival is expanding to two days, with Bicep headlining the first day (May 27) before Primal Scream topping the following evening (May 28) with a performance of their classic album ‘Screamadelica’ in full.
Others on the line-up for Wide Awake 2022 include Caribou, Floating Points, Fat White Family, Yard Act and more.

As with their debut event this year, Wide Awake 2022 will see the continuation of the festival’s ‘Positive Policy’, described as “a set of positive actions taken in an effort to help our ecosystem and change the way in which live music events take responsibility for actions towards our planet.”
A statement adds: “The Positive Policy recognises that the entertainment industry could do more towards the climate, carbon and air pollution. Wide Awake aims to find solutions that can make festivals carbon neutral, give support to local causes and not create any air pollution.”
In other festival news, Reading & Leeds are set to announce the first names on their 2022 line-up tomorrow (December 8)
The dual festival will take place over August 26-28, 2022, with a general ticket sale beginning on the Friday after the announcement, December 10.
The 2021 edition of Reading & Leeds 2021 was headlined by Liam Gallagher, Post Malone, Stormzy, Disclosure, Biffy Clyro and Catfish + The Bottlemen across two ‘East’ and ‘West’ main stages. It’s the first time that the split has happened in the history of the festival.
