Paul McCartney is the first UK musician to become a billionaire
Also in the 2024 Sunday Times Rich List are Sir Elton John and Victoria and David Beckham.
Paul McCartney has become the first ever British musician to be certified as a billionaire.
It comes as the Sunday Times published their annual Rich List for 2024.
According to the list, McCartney’s personal wealth rose by £50million over the last year, taking him up to £1billion.
The richest person in the UK remains Gopichand Parmanand Hinduja, head of the Hinduja Group, with a worth of £37.2billion, the highest recorded in the Rich List.
Other musicians in the list include Elton John and Victoria Beckham along with her husband David. Adele and Harry Styles, meanwhile, make the 40 Under 40 list.
Elsewhere, the boots worn by Paul McCartney on stage at the London 2012 Olympic opening ceremony are going up for auction.
The Beatles star also wore the boots on his ‘On The Run’ tour dates and at the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations at Buckingham Palace.
James McCartney and Sean Ono Lennon, the sons of Paul McCartney and John Lennon, have also written a new song called ‘Primrose Hill’.
The release comes after rumours emerged last year about a possible supergroup formed of the original Beatles’ children. It began when Zak Starkey, son of Ringo Starr, shared a photo of himself and Sean Ono Lennon on Instagram. Despite the meeting, he was quick to shut down fan speculation that a new group could be on the way.
