Oli Sykes collabs with Cheat Codes on “lyrically depressing” new track ‘Dummy’
The band's newly released album also features collaborations with Travis Barker and All Time Low
Bring Me the Horizon’s Oli Sykes has collaborated with American EDM trio Cheat Codes on new song ‘Dummy’.
Sykes shared news of the track on TikTok with a video of him listening to the song, captioning: “do u like lyrically depressing pop music? Check out my new song ‘dummy’ then, with cheat codes.”
The song features on Cheat Codes’ newly released album ‘HELLRAISERS, Part 2′ which features a host of musical collaborations including Travis Barker, Tyson Ritter, All Time Low and blackbear.
In a press release, the trio spoke about the new record: “Ever since we started Cheat Codes we’ve hated the idea of being kept in a box of one genre. We’ve always wanted to be able to experiment, push the envelope, and blur the lines between different types of music.
“With part two of the album, we want to try something new never done before. Something that brings us all the way back to where it all started for us as kids. POP PUNK. For us, there is nothing more nostalgic. We had such a blast making this music and it’s been absolutely insane being able to work with some of the artists/bands we grew up listening to.”
The band released ‘Part 1’ of their debut album in May, with ‘Part 3’ in the ‘HELLRAISERS’ series due later this year.
‘Part 1’ featured collaborations with Tinashe, Bryce Vine, Marc E. Bassy and AJ Mitchell, after seeing huge success with their single ‘No Promises’ featuring Demi Lovato.
The ‘Hellraisers’ album name was inspired by the nickname given to the group by their late manager, Michael Theanne, who passed away over a year ago.
Each part of the album is influenced by a band member. The first is pop inspired for Trevor Dahl, the second features KEVI’s hip-hop leaning sound, and the third is more of Matthew Russells dance influences.
