Yungblud has said that his upcoming third album will contain “the most personal music I’ve ever written”.
The Doncaster artist – real name Dominic Harrison – released his second full-length effort, ‘Weird!’, in December 2020. It followed on from his 2018 debut ’21st Century Liability’.
Yungblud is currently at work on another record, and last month revealed that he’d been in the studio with Willow.
During a recent interview with Apple Music 1, the singer-songwriter gave an update on the progress of album three.
“I’ve been in London. I’ve been making kind of the third record, and I’m just so excited about it,” Harrison explained.
“This is, for me, the most personal music I’ve ever written. And I think people are going to be a bit shocked about that because all my other music is pretty personal.”
He continued: “I think I just need to say it as it is: completely uncensored, completely outrageously. And I think this is what this album’s doing. You know what I mean? That’s what I do. And my favorite songs I’ve ever released are the songs that do that. So, you know what I mean? Get ready.”
Elsewhere, Yungblud revealed that he’s been collaborating with “a lot of cool artists” on the project – including the aforementioned Willow Smith.
“I’ve made a lot of friends. I made a lot of mates on this journey,” he said. “I love what Willow Smith’s doing right now. I’m obsessed with Girl in Red. There’s a new wave of artists who are talking from their soul and their reality. You know what I’m saying? I ain’t confirming anything but I would certainly love to work with them.”
The idea of a collaboration between Harrison and Willow was first mooted last summer, when Willow appeared on Radio 1’s ‘The Yungblud Podcast’. “I think I’m going to be in London pretty soon, so I’ll hit you,” she said. He replied: “I would absolutely love that, and if not, we’ll get some fish and chips.”
The pair were then spotted backstage at Willow’s headline show at Camden’s Electric Ballroom in London last month.
