The 1975 were joined by Lewis Capaldi during their set at Newcastle’s Utilita Arena last night (January 25).
The Scottish singer’s surprise cameo for the band’s UK leg of the ‘At Their Very Best’ tour came after they were previously joined by Taylor Swift and Charli XCX at previous dates on the tour.
After knocking on the door of the band’s on-stage house set, a video jokingly introduced Capaldi as Harry Styles – before the singer arrived in a The 1975 hoodie.
In footage shared online, Capaldi performs the group’s ‘Antichrist’, before covering Swift’s 2008 single ‘Love Story’.
Another unlikely guest came earlier in the night when Healy’s dad and actor Tim Healy performed The 1975’s 2022 single ‘All I Need To Hear’ onstage.
The Benidorm and Auf Wiedersehen, Pet star performed the track in full, prompting huge applause from the crowd. It comes after he previously worked with the group on their 2020 album Notes On A Conditional Form‘ – which featured his backing vocals on the track ‘Don’t Worry’.
Swift’s performance at The O2 earlier this month saw her play two acoustic tracks at the midpoint of the gig, following up ‘Anti-Hero’ with a cover of the early 1975 single ‘The City’.
