As Neil Young and Daryl Hannah gear up to release the new documentary Coastal, Rolling Stone UK can exclusively share a short clip from the film which shows the music icon doing what he does best – playing to an adoring crowd.

The new documentary, which arrives on April 17, offers a fresh perspective on the legendary singer’s life. Filmed on the bus, backstage, and onstage during his 2023 run of solo shows on the West Coast, Coastal provides an intimidate look at Young on the road during his first tour in four years.

It’s directed by Young’s wife, the actress Daryl Hannah, and offers a unique insight into life on the road – as well as the singer’s triumphant live shows.

In the clip that Rolling Stone UK is premiering, Young is seen delivering a short blast of ‘Don’t Forget Love’ – his 2021 song with Crazy Horse.

Hannah says she’ll be filming this year’s run of Young shows with the Chrome Hearts, which also includes a stop-off at Worthy Farm for the singer’s second headline slot at Glastonbury.

He confirmed the slot in January, just days after he said that the “corporate control” of the BBC had forced him to pull out.

“Due to an error in the information received, I had decided to not play the Glastonbury festival, which I always have loved. Happily, the festival is now back on our itinerary and we look forward to playing! See you there!” he wrote on his website. “LOVE, Neil Young and the Chrome Hearts.”

Confirming the gig, Glastonbury boss Emily Eavis wrote on Instagram: “What a start to the year! Neil Young is an artist who’s very close to our hearts at Glastonbury. He does things his own way and that’s why we love him. We can’t wait to welcome him back here to headline the Pyramid in June.”

Coastal hits cinemas on April 17.
