Adele has debuted the anticipated video for her new single, ‘Oh My God’.
It comes after the singer previously teased fans with a clip for the new video, set in black in white. Taken from her comeback album ’30’, ‘Oh My God’ has been described as an anthem to returning to the dating world following her divorce.
Adele previously posted a 15-second-clip of the video on social media, saying: “Rested and Re-Set! Feeling ready for 2022, there’s so much coming, I’m excited for you all to see it.”
In the video, which debuted today (January 12), the singer is seen performing while constantly flanked by a troupe of energetic dancers.
The action reaches its peak when the dancers are seen performing daring flips over a flaming chair. You can watch the video below.
It is the the second fully produced video to be taken from ’30’, following last year’s comeback single ‘Easy On Me’, and the album’s third video overall. In November, she shared an intimate home performance of album track ‘To Be Loved’.
While the clip is in black and white, it was previously confirmed that the singer wears a red Vivienne Westwood corseted dress for the video.
A spokesperson for the iconic fashion house revealed: “This weekend, Adele released a teaser image from the forthcoming music video to her latest single titled ‘Oh My God’, in which she wears a custom corseted dress in scarlet red satin with silk tulle bolero and train from the Vivienne Westwood Couture collection.”
The new video follows news earlier this month that ’30’ was officially the biggest selling album of 2021 in the UK.
Adele’s first album for six years sold over 600,000 equivalent album sales, including 448,000 physical copies. It saw off competition from the likes of Ed Sheeran‘s ‘=’, and ABBA‘s first album in 40 years, ‘Voyage’.
’30’ also tied with Olivia Rodrigo’s debut album ‘SOUR’ for most weeks spent at the top of the album charts, with both albums holding the position for five weeks.
Adele is also the joint-most nominated artist at this year’s BRIT Awards, with the singer up for four prizes including ‘Album Of The Year’ and ‘Artist Of The Year’.
The singer was originally set to release her fourth album in late 2020, before it was delayed due to coronavirus, and as she told Rolling Stone UK in a recent exclusive cover feature, the pandemic could have stopped the record’s release for good.
“If it wasn’t coming out now, I think I probably would never put it out,” she said. “I know I would’ve changed my mind and been like, ‘It’s moved on. Let’s start the next album.’ And I couldn’t do that to this album. I feel like it deserves to come out.”
