Wait, are The Maccabees teasing a return?
Are the indie stalwarts about to announce their return?

The Maccabees have seemingly teased their return, some seven years after the London band’s final show.
The London band – a core part of the capital’s mid-noughties indie scene – have updated their social media channels to reveal a new logo which sees their name split into three individual sections and placed atop an orange background.
It’s yet to be revealed if a comeback is on the cards, but the flurry of seemingly random activity has led fans to hope for a string of reunion shows and even new music.
“Please tell us it’s happening,” wrote one fan. Another said: “Backabees?”
The group’s last shows came in three triumphant final gigs at London’s Alexandra Palace in the summer of 2017. At the time, the group described the decision as “incredibly hard” but said there was no animosity – which seemingly bodes well for the prospect of an apparent reunion.
“We are very proud to be able to go out on our own terms, at our creative peak and off the back of the best and biggest shows we have ever done. It has been a rare and absolutely incredible time that we all feel very lucky to have shared,” the group said at the time.
“Love to anyone who has ever stood by our band, bought our records, come and seen us play, or cared and contributed in whatever capacity it may have been. We have always valued it immeasurably, tried to honour it as best we could and can only say thank you to you all very deeply and sincerely.”
The band – Orlando Weeks, Hugo White, Felix White, Rupert Jarvis and Sam Doyle – released their debut Colour It In in 2007 and followed it with 2009’s Wall of Arms and 2012’s Given to the Wild, which netted them a Mercury Prize nomination. Their final album came in 2015’s Marks To Prove It.
The group have continued in music since their split. Weeks has released a number of celebrated solo projects, while the White brothers are part of the band 86TVs, who released their debut album this summer.
