A massive collection of David Bowie memorabilia will go on display at the V&A’s new east London location next year, including the star’s life-changing Ziggy Stardust outfits.

The David Bowie Centre will open at the museum’s East Storehouse in the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park on September 13 2025, featuring more than 90,000 items from throughout the late music icon’s career.

As well as the Ziggy Stardust outfits which propelled Bowie to global fame, fans can see the handwritten lyrics to ‘Fame’ (1975), ‘Heroes’ (1977) and ‘Ashes To Ashes’ (1980).

The centre will be spread across three zones, including specific displays, audio visual offerings and study areas where visitors can view the archive on their own.

Similarly, the storehouse will also launch the Order An Object initiative, which allows visitors to pre-book to see an item from its entire collection up close.

It comes after the V&A announced it had secured the archive last year, with the support of the singer’s estate, the Blavatnik Family Foundation and Warner Music Group.

Tim Reeve, deputy director of the V&A, said: “The opening of V&A East Storehouse next May delivers on our ambition to create a new standard for access to national collections, in an area of London with such a rich creative heritage and vibrant and talented creative community.”
