The Horrors have announced their return with a new line-up, a sombre new single and details of their sixth album called Night Life.
The haunting new track ‘The Silence That Remains’ provides the first state of the band’s next era, which sees founding vocalist Faris Badwan and bassist Rhys Webb joined by a selection of new faces.
They are now joined by Amelia Kidd on keys and Telegram’s Jordan Cook on drums, alongside original member Joshua Hayward on guitar, which means their latest is the first record not to feature all five original members.
“’The Silence that Remains’ is a 3am insomnia walk through the city, retracing our steps and putting the past to bed,” said the band in a statement. “Our new chapter is beginning and we’re looking forward to taking you with us. The Horrors are never-ending.”
The group’s next album Night Life, meanwhile, arrives on March 21 next year via Fiction Records. A press release explains that it began life at Webb’s flat in North London, before they were joined by producer Yves Rothman to knock it into shape.
According to a press release, the album is a “record of weight and space, of melancholy and euphoria” which explores “the thoughts that happen under the cover of darkness; the places your mind takes you when the rest of the world is asleep. A record born out of a desire to revive the raw, instinctive spirit of the band’s early work”.
The group will also play a string of shows later this year. Check those out in full below.
