Sunflower Bean share new track and video, ‘Roll The Dice’
It's the second preview of the New York City trio's upcoming album 'Headful Of Sugar'
Sunflower Bean have shared the second preview of their new album ‘Headful Of Sugar’ – watch the video for ‘Roll The Dice’ below.
The New York City trio‘s third full-length album was announced last month with first single ‘Who Put You Up To This?’ and is set to land on May 6 via Lucky Number.
It’s the band‘s first full-length since 2018’s ‘Twentytwo In Blue’, which they followed up in 2019 with four-track EP ‘King Of The Dudes’.
Speaking of ‘Roll The Dice’, Sunflower Bean bassist/vocalist Julia Cumming said: “Almost everyone we know struggles with money. The traditional routes towards success and stability in America have severely narrowed. The only way to get ahead is to take big risks and roll the dice.”
Watch the new video below.
“We wanted to write about the lived experience of late capitalism, how it feels every day, the mundanity of not knowing where every construct is supposed to ultimately lead you,” guitarist Nick Kivlen said of the new album.
“The message is in the title: this is about fast pleasures, the sugar of life, the joy that comes with letting goof everything you thought mattered.”
Cumming added: “Tomorrow is not promised, no tour is promised, no popularity is promised, no health or money is promised. Why not make what you want to make on your own terms? Why not make a record that makes you want to dance? Why not make a record that makes you want to scream?”
Sunflower Bean are set to tour the new album around the UK this spring. See the full list of dates, which kick off in Cambridge at the end of this month, below.
