Stormzy has teamed up with McDonald’s for the UK and Ireland’s very first Famous Order meal.
The limited time deal gives fans the chance to order the rapper’s favourite meal, consisting of nine Chicken McNuggets, fries, two BBQ dips, an Oreo McFlurry or Apple Pie and a Sprite Zero.
It’s available in McDonalds stores from February 12 at a cost of £7.99 and comes with a set of premium limited-edition stickers.
McDonalds is also launching a Stormzy merchandise range via the McDonald’s App, including a limited edition poster, a tumbler and pin badges. Fans from the rapper’s hometown Croydon will get the chance to try the meal at McDonalds branches in the area two days (February 10) before it officially goes on sale across the UK.
It’s the first of its kind in the UK, although the likes of J Balvin, Travis Scott and BTS have previously curated their favourite meals in the US. The latter, it’s of little surprise to report, sparked a “significant” jump in sales for the chain.
“I am so gassed for my McDonald’s order to be the first ever ‘Famous Order’ in the UK and Ireland. Never thought I’d have my own order on the official menu. That’s mad,” Stormzy said.
McDonald’s UK & Ireland Chief Marketing Officer, Ben Fox added: “Stormzy is a McDonald’s fan through and through and a true global icon. This makes him the perfect superstar to bring to life the fact that no matter how famous you are, everyone has a favourite, go to, McDonald’s order.”
He continued: “Introducing Stormzy’s signature order is an incredible moment for the brand; two icons colliding, giving everyone the chance to eat just like Big Mike at McDonald’s and, if they are lucky, to nab some exclusive branded merch.”
Last year saw Stormzy and Chase & Status pick up the Song Of The Year Award at the Rolling Stone UK Awards for their collab ‘Backbone’.
Accepting the award remotely in a video speech, Stormzy hailed Chase & Status’ legacy after 21 years in music. “I wanted to say a big thank you to Rolling Stone UK for The Song of the Year Award. What an honour with my brothers Chase & Status,” he said.
“I just have to pay homage and dedicate this to them. Will and Saul, my brothers. 21 years in the game, legendary status. This song is a testament to their gift. I will always say it, I went to the studio with two legends and laid down a verse, I made a hook and here we are, they did all the rest. Legendary status.”
