Sports Team share John Otway-starring video for new single ‘The Game’
"It’s a mantra for a 'nation of landlords'," the London band say of the track

Sports Team have shared a new single called ‘The Game’ – you can watch its official music video below.
The song will appear on the London band’s second studio album ‘Gulp!’, which is due to arrive on July 22 via Island Records. Back in March, Sports Team released the first track from the record in the form of ‘R Entertainment’.
In a statement, the six-piece group described ‘The Game’ as “a mantra for a ‘nation of landlords’”.
“Something to mutter to yourself behind the electric gates as the world burns around you,” they added. “It’s that bunkered, ‘island mentality’, where someone has allowed themselves to believe that the news is what happens to other people.”
The single comes with a Charles Gall-directed video, which sees ’70s punk artist John Otway star as a sinister game show host as frontman Alex Rice endures a series of surreal – and gruesome – trials in front of a live audience.
‘The Game’ had been previewed by Sports Team at their recent live shows. The forthcoming ‘Gulp!’ will also feature the songs ‘Cool It Kid’, ‘Kool Aid’ and ‘Fingers (Taken Off)’ – see the full tracklist below.

Late last year, a couple got engaged at a Sports Team show at the University Stylus venue in Leeds. During the set, couple Will and Susannah took to the stage before Will got down on one knee to propose to Susannah.
Sports Team posted a photo of the happy moment on their Twitter the morning after, writing: “Congrats Will and Susannah, a marriage built on the Leeds Stylus stage is a marriage built to last.”
