Blackpink‘s Rosé is embarking on a new chapter all on her own. On Tuesday, the musician announced her long-awaited debut solo album Rosie, set for release on Dec. 6.

“I cannot believe I am finally announcing my first album release to you all,” Rosé wrote on Instagram. “I remember last year as our year long tour ended, I found myself in a session out here in los angeles. That led on to a year of walking in and out of the studio, writing songs with songwriters and producers I’d met for the first time, trying to figure out the next chapter in my career. I fell asleep many nights feeling confused and lost.”

She continued: “But with the support of my dear friends and family, my team, and of course my number ones, I am sat here today excited to announce the date of my album release. I have poured my blood and tears into this album. I cannot wait for you to listen to this little journal of mine. Rosie – is the name I allow my friends and family to call me. With this album, I hope you all feel that much closer to me. And yes, it’s a full length album.”

Rosé made her official debut as a solo artist in 2021 with the two-track release R, which featured “On the Ground” and “Gone.” In 2022, she spoke to Rolling Stone about the daunting experience of going solo. “It was very challenging — that put me more in a vulnerable position,” Rosé said. “Standing alone was frightening. It made me realise how much Blackpink was a big support to me in the past. When I didn’t know what to do, I’d call to ask them what they felt, what their opinions were. So they were always there during my solo work.”

Over the past few weeks, Rosé’s social media channels have been flooded with fans anxiously requesting updates on how long it would be before the singer would have more music to share. Last week, she announced her signing to Atlantic Records. “I know you’ve all waited sooo long for this moment, but i hope you’re READY for what’s in store for the next few months,” she wrote to fans at the time. “I CANNOTTT wait for you all to hear everything!! so hang on tight!! miss you all dearly.”
