Radiohead have been joining forces again for a run of rehearsals, Colin Greenwood has revealed.

The bassist revealed the exciting news during a Hay Festival Querétaro event on Sunday (September 8), which took place in Mexico but saw Greenwood offer his thoughts via video call.

Discussing his upcoming photography book, How To Disappear: A Photographic Portrait Of Radiohead, Greenwood explained that the band had joined forces together only a couple of months back.

“We did some rehearsals about two months ago in London, just to play the old songs,” he revealed. “And it was really fun, had a really good time.”

Greenwood didn’t reveal whether a full band reunion could be on the cards, but the band’s ninth and most recent studio album, A Moon Shaped Pool , was released back in 2016, and their last tour together came in 2018.

It’s the latest update on the band since drummer Phillip Selway revealed late last year that Radiohead could be “coming back around to that point” of returning.

More recently, The Smile – formed of Radiohead singer Thom Yorke and guitarist Jonny Greenwood – announced that they will release their third album, Cutouts, this October.

The band – also featuring jazz musician Tom Skinner – released debut album A Light For Attracting Attention in 2021, following it up last year with Wall of Eyes.

Cutouts will be released on October 4 and is being previewed by two new singles, ‘Foreign Spies’ and ‘Zero Sum’.

Earlier this summer, The Smile cancelled a tour of Europe next month after Greenwood was hospitalised and placed in intensive care.

The band shelved all dates after Greenwood fell “seriously ill” from an infection. A statement read: “A few days ago, Jonny became seriously ill from an infection that needed emergency hospital treatment, some of it in intensive care. Mercifully he is now out of danger and will soon return home.

“We have been instructed by the medical team in charge of Jonny’s care to cancel all engagements until he has had time to make a full recovery. To that end, The Smile tour of Europe in August is cancelled.”
