Pulp have announced two special intimate shows in London for BBC 6 Music and Radio 2 next month.

Both shows will take place next month at the BBC Radio Theatre to mark the release of More, Pulp’s first album in 24 years which was announced last week.

For 6 Music, the Britpop icons will perform as part of a one off show called 6 Music Session: Pulp Live, and it will be broadcast on Nick Grimshaw’s morning show on Thursday, May 29 alongside an interview with the band.

BBC Radio 2, meanwhile, will air Pulp: Radio 2 In Concert which captures the band taking to the stage of the BBC Radio Theatre at Broadcasting House on Wednesday, May 7. The performance will be broadcast on Jo Whiley’s show on Radio 2 and on BBC Sounds on Thursday, May 29.

In addition, a selection of tracks from the recording will be broadcast the following morning on The Scott Mills Breakfast Show at 9am.

“We are really looking forward to this,” said Jarvis Cocker. “From my time at 6 Music, I remember that the BBC Radio Theatre is a very intimate venue. As long as we can fit all our equipment in there it’s going to be great to play some songs for Radio 2 and 6 Music.”

Fans hoping to attend the Radio 2 show can apply here for tickets, with half going to Greater London postcodes and the other half being available for the rest of the UK. Hopefuls can apply for one pair of tickets and the ballot is open now until 11.59pm on Tuesday April 22.

The eighth album from the Sheffield Britpop icons is produced by James Ford and will arrive on June 6, 2025 via Rough Trade Records. It was recorded and mixed at Orbb Studio in Walthamstow, London late last year.

“When we started touring again in 2023, we practiced a new song called ‘Hymn of the North’ during soundchecks & eventually played it at the end of our second night at Sheffield Arena,” said Cocker of the album.

“This seemed to open the floodgates: we came up with the rest of the songs on this album during the first half of 2024. A couple are revivals of ideas from last century. The music for one song was written by Richard Hawley. The music for another was written by Jason Buckle. The Eno family sing backing vocals on a song. There are string arrangements written by Richard Jones & played by the Elysian Collective.”

He added: “These are the facts. We hope you enjoy the music. It was written & performed by four human beings from the North of England, aided & abetted by five other human beings from various locations in the British Isles. No A.I. was involved during the process.”

This summer will also see Pulp head out on a 2025 UK and Ireland arena tour.
