Post Malone and The Weeknd release new track ‘One Right Now’
The track is the first time the labelmates have collaborated, teasing what's to come on Posty's fourth studio album
Post Malone and The Weeknd have shared their new collaborative track ‘One Right Now’.
The song is the first single from Post Malone’s fourth studio album, the follow-up to 2019’s ‘Hollywood’s Bleeding’, having also released the song ‘Motley Crew’ this summer.
On the track the Republic Records labelmates lament and agonize over a disloyal lover against a backdrop of synths. “You think it’s so easy fuckin’ with my feelings,” they sing at the chorus.
“Don’t call me baby when you did me so wrong,” Posty sings, “But I got over what you did already/ Body for a body, so petty.”
The Weeknd continues: “You’re a stain on my legacy/ We can’t be friends, can’t be family (Oh)/ You probably fuck all my enemies (Oh)/ I can’t let you be next to me/ Oh, you belong to the world now/ So just me leave me alone now/ We’re not in touch no more.”

In an interview with the Wall Street Journal last year, Posty spoke about his hopes for the next album: “I want to make an album that will uplift and show that people are not alone in their times of loneliness and worry and that at the end of the day we all just need to show love to everyone on the planet and figure things out. So we’re working pretty hard, and I think we’re making some incredible stuff.”
Last month the artist was forced to cancel Posty Fest 2021, which was scheduled to take place in Texas from October 30-31, due to “logistical issues”. Megan Thee Stallion, Roddy Ricch and Jack Harlow were among artists scheduled to perform.
The Weeknd, who returned this summer with new single ‘Take My Breath’, also recently shared that his upcoming album is nearly complete.
Last month on an episode of his Apple Music show ‘Memento Mori’, the singer told fans the record was “complete” but was awaiting a few key elements.
“Only thing missing is a couple characters that are key to the narrative,” he said, adding that they are “some people that are near and dear to me, some people that inspired my life as a child, and some that inspire me now”.
Last month the artist also bagged six nominations at the 2021 American Music Awards for Artist Of The Year, Favourite Male Pop Artist, Favourite Male R&B Artist, Favourite Music Video for ‘Save Your Tears’, Favourite Pop Song for the ‘Save Your Tears’ with Ariana Grande, and Favourite Latin Song his collaboration with Maluma ‘Hawái – Remix’.
The ceremony will take place on November 21 at 8pm EST/ 1am GMT at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles.
