PJ Harvey has announced the release of new single ‘A Child’s Question, August’, sparking speculation that a new album could be on the way from the acclaimed singer.
Harvey, whose last album came in 2016’s The Hope Six Demolition Project, has confirmed that the track will be released tomorrow (April 26), alongside a video directed by Steve Gullick.
Confirming the release on social media, the singer also shared a brief snippet of the song and its accompanying visuals.
Harvey, the only artist to have won the Mercury Prize on two occasions, has been teasing her comeback in recent weeks – having confirmed last weekend that she had been back in the studio with longtime collaborators John Parish and Flood.
Additionally, last week saw her share a new Spotify playlist of forty “tracks from her catalogue produced by Parish and Flood”. She described it as “a celebration of their masterful work with me”.
She also told Rolling Stone last year that she had recorded an album and was “very pleased with it”.
“It took a long time to write to get right, but at last I feel very happy with it,” said Harvey.
