Parcels have unveiled a live session recorded at London’s iconic Abbey Road Studios to mark the 90th anniversary of the iconic studios. You can watch it first below on Rolling Stone UK.

The session sees the Australian electro-pop outfit showcase three tracks from their latest album ‘Day/Night’, namely ‘Comingback’, ‘Famous’ and ‘LordHenry’. Shot in Studio 3, where the likes of Frank Ocean and Pink Floyd have previously recorded, the session is also interspersed with footage filmed by band member Louie Swain, shot on a handheld film camera.

Describing the session, Swain said: “We recorded these songs at Abbey Road Studios the day after our first live concert in nearly two years. The experience of playing these new songs on stage was an intense outburst of energy, reciprocated by more people in one room than any of us had experienced in a long time, so I think most of us were in a bit of a surreal state of mind.

“The studios themselves felt cozy to me. I enjoyed seeing the classical players drifting through the historic halls with the familiarity of anyone’s daily place of work. I was handed a camera to shoot some behind the scenes footage throughout the day and attempted to re-create a tracking shot I’d once seen of Pink Floyd having lunch in the cafeteria. No one was very enthusiastic and I was then told that the cafeteria was a private space with no filming allowed.

“Having seen first hand the deep importance of a purposefully quiet lunch during studio days, I was impressed and obeyed respectfully. We also met Nile Rogers for a short moment which was also very surreal. Thank you for having us, Abbey Road!”

The latest effort comes after the band’s second album ‘Day/Night’ arrived in November 2021 and was highlighted by Rolling Stone UK as one of the year’s best albums.

Our verdict stated: “Australian electro-poppers Parcels’ double album Day/ Night is rare in that it justifies its length. On each track, the listener is transported to different sonic territories. ‘Free’ is a slinking laid-back ode to personal liberation, while ‘Somethinggreater’ offers an impressively faithful tribute to ’70s disco. A brilliantly accomplished, genre-spanning record.”

Parcels will also return to the UK later this year for a string of live dates. You can check them out in full below, although all tickets are currently sold out.
