Ozzy Osbourne recorded more unreleased songs with Taylor Hawkins

Ozzy Osbourne recorded additional songs with the late Taylor Hawkins for the Patient No. 9 sessions, which have been earmarked for a future project.
Producer Andrew Watt has revealed that Osbourne laid down tracks with the late Foo Fighters drummer that didn’t make his new album but which won’t be hidden away forever.
Watt told Rolling Stone in a new profile about the Prince of Darkness and his Patient No. 9 collaborators that there’s “a bunch of other stuff with Ozzy and Taylor, as well, that’s going to be used for another thing”.
Hawkins drummed on the new album along with the Red Hot Chili Peppers‘ Chad Smith.
Hawkins, who died in March from a suspected cocktail of substances in his system, is credited with drums and co-writing credits on three songs on Osbourne’s 13th solo album: ‘Parasite’, ‘Mr. Darkness’ and ‘God Only Knows’.
Smith ended up drumming on the bulk of the tracks (‘God Only Knows’ features both drummers).
In other news, Osbourne has reiterated his desire to return to touring, having been held back by illness and injury in recent years.
The former Black Sabbath singer was due to hit the road in the UK in early 2019 on his ironically titled ‘No More Tours 2’ arena run, only for bronchitis to force him to shelve the gigs at the eleventh hour.
In the years since, Osbourne has struggled with, among other things, a worsening of symptoms related to his Parkinson’s disease, a bad case of COVID-19, and the recurrence of severe pain resulting from injuries sustained in a 2003 quad bike crash.
Earlier this year he underwent neck surgery relating to those injuries, a procedure that at the time was characterised by his wife Sharon as being likely to “determine the rest of his life”.
Since then, he’s returned to live performance, having made a surprise appearance at the closing ceremony of the Commonwealth Games this summer in his hometown of Birmingham to reunite with Black Sabbath bandmate Tony Iommi to play ‘Paranoid’.
