Oasis have confirmed that Richard Ashcroft will join the group as the main support for the UK and Ireland leg of their upcoming tour.

The Verve’s venerated frontman will join the group when they play their first gigs together in 16 years at UK venues including London’s Wembley Stadium and Manchester’s Heaton Park.

Billed as a “special guest”, the slot marks the latest chapter in the long history between Ashcroft and Oasis, who first supported The Verve in 1993 only months before the release of their debut single ‘Supersonic’. As well as sharing the stage throughout the years, Noel memorably dedicated ‘Cast No Shadow’ to Ashcroft, while he also provided backing vocals on ‘All Around The World’ from 1997’s ‘Be Here Now’.

Richard Ashcroft said: “As a fan from day one I was buzzing for many reasons when the news of Oasis’s return was announced. I can say with no exaggeration that the songwriting talent of Noel and Liam’s pure spirit as a lead singer helped to inspire me to create some of my best work. It was the perfection of ‘Live Forever’ that forced me to try and write my own. They dared to be great, made the dreams we had real and I will always remember those days with joy. Now it’s time to create more memories and I’m ready to bring it. See you next summer. Music is power.”

It’s yet to be announced who will support the group on the North American and Australian legs of their comeback tour.

Liam recently said farewell to his stadium-filling solo career for the meantime too, playing at the Liam Gallagher And Friends Malta Weekender, where he toasted his hugely successful solo career ahead of the anticipated 2025 reunion.
