Noel Gallagher might be gearing up for a huge UK arena tour later this year, but Rolling Stone UK can share footage from one of his biggest gigs this year so far – a huge homecoming at Manchester’s Wythenshawe Park.
The Mancunian icon performed to some 25,000 fans at the outdoor gig last month, delivering a show that spanned the gamut of his Oasis highs and his celebrated solo career.
Now, Rolling Stone UK can share Noel’s spellbinding performance of ‘Council Skies‘, the title track of his latest album. Backed by the High Flying Birds, the clip sees the former Oasis man in full flight and was recorded by streaming platform On Air in stunning 4K UHD.
The performance, which also boasts Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos technologies, is now available to stream in full on the platform, but our exclusive clip gives fans an impressive idea of what to expect.
On Air CEO Jakub Krampl said: “If there are two things that go hand in hand, its Noel Gallagher and Manchester, so when we had the opportunity to partner with the band on this iconic homecoming gig we jumped at the chance.
“For fans who want to relive the performance, or those that were unable to get tickets for whatever reason – we’re confident that the stream will give them front row access with the best quality sound and video.”
Reviewing ‘Council Skies’, Rolling Stone UK wrote: “There are moments of powerful contemplation which go far in reaffirming Gallagher’s uniquely unrivalled song-writing talents. “If love ain’t enough / To make it alright / Leave me dead to the world,” he offers on ‘Dead to The World’.
“When the solo material is as good as this, it’s little wonder that an Oasis reunion looks as far away as ever.”
