Natalie Imbruglia joins Coldplay at Wembley Stadium to perform ‘Torn’
They also performed a rendition of 'Summer Nights' from 'Grease' in memory of the late Olivia Newton-John, who died last week
Coldplay were joined by Natalie Imbruglia to perform ‘Torn’ on stage at Wembley Stadium last night (16 August), where they also paid tribute to the late Olivia Newton-John.
The singer joined Chris Martin and co. to perform her hit ‘Torn’, which was followed by a rendition of the iconic Grease song ‘Summer Nights’, paying tribute to Newton-John who died age 73 last week.
Imbruglia performed Sandy’s (Newton-John) part from the beloved 1978 film, while Martin sang John Travolta’s lines, and the pair were also joined by Jacob Collier on the chorus.
“Thank you to @natalie_imbruglia and @jacobcollier for joining us for Torn,” Coldplay wrote on social media, “and to everyone at Wembley for their magnificent backing vocals”.

Last week Newton-John’s husband, John Easterling, confirmed her death on Instagram, writing that she “passed away peacefully at her ranch in Southern California this morning, surrounded by family and friends.”
The statement continued that Newton-John had been “a symbol of triumphs and hope for over 30 years sharing her journey with breast cancer”.
Coldplay are currently halfway through their Wembley run of shows for the ‘Music of the Spheres’ tour. Earlier this week, Craig David joined the band on stage for another surprise performance.
On the first night of the tour (12 August) they delivered joint renditions of David’s songs ‘Live in the Moment’ (2018) and ‘Fill Me In’ (2000). At the second gig (13 August) they swapped the latter tune for another classic, ‘7 Days’ (2000).
Coldplay have since posted footage of the ‘7 Days’ collaboration on social media. After David sang the single’s chorus, frontman Martin said: “That’s how your life was when you were 19, right? I’d like to tell you how my life was when I was 19. It was different… it’s a different song. But most people can relate to my version.”
The musician then put an his own spin on the track, singing: “I met this girl on Monday/ A friend gave me her number on Tuesday/ But she didn’t text me back on Wednesday/ Or Thursday, or Friday, or Saturday/ Watched TV with my gran on Sunday.”
He went on: “She didn’t wanna know me on Tuesday/ She went off with somebody else on Wednesday/ I was on my own on Thursday, Friday, Saturday/ Went to the cinema on my own on Sunday.”
Captioning the video, Coldplay wrote: “Thank you Wembley – and thank you to the one and only @CraigDavid.”
