Mitski returns with emotive new single ‘Working For The Knife’ and a UK tour

Mitski is back after three years away with an emotional new single called ‘Working For The Knife’ plus a UK and Europe tour.
The singer’s return comes after she revealed details of her “last show indefinitely” back in 2019, which left fans fearing the worst that she might be quitting music. She told fans it was time for her to “be a human again. And have a place to live.”
However, ‘Working For The Knife’ now marks her first release since 2018’s ‘Be The Cowboy’.
She explains the new track is “about going from being a kid with a dream to a grown-up with a job, and feeling that, somewhere along the way, you got left behind”.
Mitski continued: “It’s being confronted with a world that doesn’t seem to recognise your humanity, and seeing no way out of it.”
The beautiful accompanying video was filmed at The Egg in Albany, NY, directed by Zia Anger. Ashley Connor directed photography, and Mitski teamed up with longtime collaborator Patrick Hyland for the track.
As well as the new song, Mitski has also announced details of a UK and European tour for 2022. The dates next year will be her first UK shows since September 2018.
