Missed out on Glastonbury tickets? This auction could be your answer
Once-in-a-lifetime experiences to watch a Pyramid Stage set from its viewing platform are among the prizes in a new Trussell Trust auction
By Joe Goggins
Five pairs of tickets for this year’s sold-out Glastonbury Festival are being auctioned off in aid of the Trussell Trust.
Each of the five lots offers a unique experience at this year’s festival, for which all general tickets were snapped up in under an hour. In conjunction with organiser Emily Eavis, the Trussell Trust – which supports food banks up and down the UK in a bid to end hunger – is auctioning off the chance to introduce an act on the Cabaret Stage with one of the pairs of tickets. Another pair comes with the chance to watch a Pyramid Stage set from its viewing platform, and another with the opportunity to do likewise on the Other Stage.
Another pair will come with the winners’ own reserved area within Maceo’s, the crew bar at Block9, including a round of drinks. The final pair of tickets comes complete with what is being billed as a once-in-a-lifetime chance to take part in the Festival’s famous opening ceremony parade, which would see the winners joining performers in the procession, carrying a fire lantern, and then taking a front row spot for the traditional fireworks and sculpture burn. A free massage or therapy session in the Healing Fields also comes as part of that package.
The auctions are live now, with all five packages already attracting four-figure bids at the time of writing with over six days left to run. The auctions conclude next Monday (February 13). You can bid here. Writing on Instagram, Eavis said: “The link for our ticket auction in aid of the Trussell Trust is live now. This will raise much needed funds for the UK’s food bank network. There are some incredible experiences, including backstage at Block9, gong bath in the Greenfields, pressing the Arcadia fire button, introducing an act on the cabaret stage and so much more. There is a raffle being planned too, more details to follow on that soon.”
This year’s festival is completely sold out, despite only one act being confirmed at the time of the ticket sale – Elton John, who will make his final UK live appearance when he closes the weekend on the Pyramid Stage on Sunday, June 25. Arctic Monkeys and Guns N’ Roses are strongly rumoured to be joining John in headlining on the Friday and Saturday, respectively.
