Matty Healy has addressed claims that new music from The 1975 will see him talk about his relationship with ex-girlfriend Taylor Swift.
The frontman is said to have dated the singer for a brief period between April and June 2023, with Swift even joining The 1975 onstage at London’s O2 Arena.
While the pair never confirmed their relationship, it’s thought that Swift’s 2024 album The Tortured Poets Department features references to their time spent together.
Yesterday saw tabloid reports claim that a secret new album from The 1975 is on the way and that the record’s lead single, ‘God Has Entered My Body’, is about Taylor and Matty’s “fleeting romance”.
When the initial report was shared to The 1975 subreddit, Healy responded and wrote: “Huge if true.”
According to The Sun, the song contains the lyric “Keep your head up Princess, your tiara is falling,” previously a captain to a 2021 Instagram post from Healy.
The report also went on to claim that the band will headline Glastonbury this summer, although this is yet to be confirmed by organisers.
Healy is now engaged to model Gabbriette Bechtel, while Swift has been dating Kansas City Chiefs star Travis Kelce since September 2023.
