Madonna calls 50 Cent a fake friend for mocking her lingerie photoshoot
50 Cent had likened her to the Wicked Witch of the East
Madonna has accused 50 Cent of being a fake friend after he mocked a lingerie photoshoot of hers.
This week the pop legend shared a photo of herself with the rapper from 2003, saying that in the wake of his comments that he’d only ever pretended to be her friend.
50 Cent had poked fun at an image Madonna posted that showed her legs sprayed out from underneath a bed. He photoshopped the image to liken it to the Wicked Witch of the East from the 1939 film classic ‘The Wizard of Oz’.
“LOL That’s Madonna under the bed trying to do like a virgin at 63. [She] shot out, if she don’t get her old ass up,” he wrote alongside the photo, which he’s since deleted.
In reaction, Madonna shared on her Instagram Stories yesterday (December 2) an image of her posing with the rapper. “Here is 50 Cent pretending to be my friend. Now you have decided to talk smack about me!” she captioned it.
“I guess your new career is getting attention by trying to humiliate others on social media, the least elevated choice you could make as an artist and an adult. You’re just jealous you won’t look as good as me or have as much fun when you’re my age!”
The 63-year-old singer added: “Too bad there are no sour grapes emojees.”
Now, 50 Cent has apologised. He wrote on Twitter today (December 3): “Ok Im sorry i did not intend to hurt your feelings.I don’t benefit from this in anyway i said what i thought when i saw the picture because of where i had seen it before i hope you accept my apology [sic].”
“I’m reposting photographs Instagram took down without warning or notification,” Madonna wrote after re-adding them to her profile. “The reason they gave my management that does not handle my account was that a small portion of my nipple was exposed,” she said.
She added: “It is still astounding to me that we live in a culture that allows every inch of a woman’s body to be shown except a nipple.”
Instagram has yet to comment on the situation. Madonna remains no stranger to controversy, and has pushed boundaries with her wardrobe choices her entire career, from the now-iconic Jean-Paul Gaultier cone bra corset he wore on her 1990 Blond Ambition tour to her get-up at 2016’s Met Gala, a bondage-inspired outfit by Givenchy.
In other news, the singer has faced criticism elsewhere for revealing that some of her team had worked for free on her new concert film ‘Madame X’.
