Listen to a dreamy clip from Jon Hopkins ‘upcoming new album, ‘Music for Psychedelic Therapy’
“It’s time to share the music that sits at the heart of this album"
Jon Hopkins has shared a new clip from his upcoming new album, ‘Music for Psychedelic Therapy’ – listen to it below.
The new album arrives on November 12 on digital and CD format, February 11 on vinyl via Domino.
Following the release of ‘Sit Around The Fire’ – a collaboration with East Forest and featuring the late guru Ram Dass – Hopkins has now shared a taster of what fans can expect from his upcoming new album.
The excerpt of two songs – ‘Love Flows Over Us In Prismatic Waves’ and ‘Deep In The Glowing Heart’ feature on the album’s second half.
You can listen to the excerpt here:
Speaking about the music, Hopkins said: “It’s time to share the music that sits at the heart of this album.
“This is what it’s all about for me. Everything on the record is so intrinsically linked that rather than extract one track to release next, I made this stand-alone excerpt, which is drawn from two big moments of the second half – ‘Love Flows Over Us in Prismatic Waves’ and ‘Deep in the Glowing Heart.’”
A description of the upcoming album reads: “‘Music For Psychedelic Therapy’ carves a new path for Jon sonically and philosophically. Enveloping Jon’s journeys across geographical and cosmological spectrums, the album is an inimitable and all-embodying journey in and of itself. It’s a richly rewarding and personal listening experience; one highly recommend indulging in without distraction.”
Back in July, Hopkins worked with The National’s Aaron Dessner and Bryce Dessner to score the music for All Of This Unreal Time – a film starring Cillian Murphy which appeared at the Manchester International Festival.
Written by Max Porter and directed by Aoife McArdle, the film and music explored “the need to care for those alongside us and the earth that sustains us” and “one man’s failings.”
