Lil Wayne to play first UK show in 14 years
The rapper will headline Strawberries & Creem festival in June
Lil Wayne will headline Strawberries & Creem festival 2022, marking his first UK show in 14 years and his only scheduled European performance.
The Cambridge festival will take place from June 17-19, with Ella Mai, Mabel and Tems also announced, with all three artists set to make their debut UK festival headline performances.
Ella Mai will kick off Friday, with Lil Wayne and Mabel performing Saturday, and Tems closing up on Sunday.
Other names announced on the 60 per cent female line-up include Tion Wayne, Ms Banks, Ghetts, ENNY, Knucks, David Rodigan, Rema, High Contrast and Katy B.
“This year, as we scale up to a full three days, we wanted to ensure our musical offering matched that level of ambition – as well as reflecting our incredibly diverse crowd,” festival co-founder Preye Crooks said in a statement.
“We have gone further than ever before to bring exceptional artists together, showing Strawberries & Creem to be a major player on the weekend festival scene. As a team, we also wanted to shine a light on some amazing genres and artists that aren’t always celebrated in full at other festivals.
“We hope we have curated a truly representative and exciting lineup, one that offers an unrivalled experience to our festival goers – covering everything from D&B and dance music, to reggae and R&B.”

Pre-sale tickets for Strawberries & Creem are available from February 21 at 10am here. General sale will be available via Ticketmaster from February 22 at 10am.
In an effort to achieve gender equality on music festival line-ups, Strawberries & Creem is scaling their collaboration with UN Women UK, following the Safe Spaces Now: In Music initiative last year. “Measures to tackle sexual harassment and abuse will be further strengthened across the site, ensuring that women’s safety is a top priority,” a press release read.
Last month Lil Wayne released his mixtape ‘Sorry 4 The Wait’ with four new tracks. It was originally released in 2011 following delays to his album ‘Tha Carter IV’.
The rapper served eight months in prison in 2010 for possession of a weapon on his tour bus. His visa to the UK was cancelled the following year which prevented his UK tour from going ahead.
