Liam Gallagher responds to Matty Healy’s demand for an Oasis reunion
The 1975 frontman recently said the feuding Gallagher brothers need to ‘grow up’
Liam Gallagher has responded to The 1975‘s Matty Healy calling for Oasis reunion.
Earlier this month, Healy expressed his anger at the ongoing feud between Liam and his brother Noel Gallagher ever since Oasis abruptly split in 2009.
“What are Oasis doing? Can you imagine? Being in, potentially, right now, still, the coolest band in the world, and not doing it because you’re in a hard with your brother,” Healy said during a CBC (Canadian Broadcasting Corporation) interview.
“Do you know what I mean? I can deal with them dressing like they’re in their twenties, and being in their fifties, but acting like they’re in their twenties? They need to grow up.”
Now, Liam has responded to Healy’s impassioned call for a reunion after a fan brought up the comments on Twitter. “Matty Healy says you’re just wasting your time and you should stop being like children… what do you think?” they asked.
“It’s our time to waste who made him the boss of time,” Liam replied, before adding in a follow-up tweet: “CHILDREN.”
Healy’s criticism of the brothers in the interview went on: “They’re like, men of the people, and they’re sat around in Little Venice and Highgate, crying over an argument with their brother. Grow up! Headline Glastonbury.
“There is not one person who is going to a High Flying Birds gig, or a Liam Gallagher gig, who would not rather be at an Oasis gig. There is not one person that is there going, “you know what? I loved Definitely Maybe, but my favourite thing is fucking Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds.”
“Do me a favour,” he concluded. “Get back together, stop messing around. That’s my public service announcement for today.”
Meanwhile, Liam also weighed in on the ‘nepo babies’ debate this week, posting to Twitter yesterday (February 21): “All this snizzle about famous folks kids out earning a crust least they’re not out mugging old people zip it ya jealous ugly fucks LG x.”
Last month, Noel Gallagher announced his fourth album with High Flying Birds, Council Skies, out this June. Around the same time, news emerged that he is to divorce his partner of 22 years, Sara MacDonald.
