LCD Soundsystem are teasing something in Shoreditch

LCD Soundsystem have seemingly hinted that shows in the capital could be on the horizon, after teasing the prospect with a series of mysterious projections.

Projections of the logo of DFA Records, the label founded and run by LCD Soundsystem’s James Murphy, have appeared at locations across Shoreditch in London. They state “You are here (again)”, alongside the lightning bolt seen in the DFA Logo.

Although it’s currently unclear what LCD Soundsystem have got up their sleeves, the band previously used the you are here title for a 2024 residency at Knockdown Center in their native New York, suggesting that a similar thing could on the cards here.

Last year saw the group debut a new song called ‘X Ray Eyes’ via the surprise medium of NTS Radio, while a press release for their upcoming performance at Primavera Sound suggested that a new album is on the way.

“If this is a celebration, then let’s embrace LCD Soundsystem’s ‘All My Friends’ as the official anthem of Primavera Sound Barcelona 2025,” the Primavera listing said.

““Almost twenty years after giving the world this dance-rock ode to friendship, the influential band led by James Murphy will come back to the festival (and with a new album!) to make it clear that, although they are an inherent part of our best memories, their time is always now.”

2024 also saw the group play a triumphant set on the first day of Glastonbury, as well as a headline set at east London’s All Points East Festival.

Hailing that London set as “engaging and enthralling”, Rolling Stone UK wrote: “While almost identical to their headline performance here in 2018 in terms of setlist, LCD’s headline set is given a touching and tragic edge when James Murphy tells the crowd of the death of his business partner Justin Chearno. “We’re all fucking destroyed,” Murphy said, with Nancy Whang then singing ‘Someone Great’ through floods of tears.

“The communal support then showed for the band throughout the rest of the set gave ‘New York, I Love You But You’re Bringing Me Down’, ‘All My Friends’ and more even further gravitas.”
