LadBaby join Elton John and Ed Sheeran for fourth Christmas No.1 bid
"Who's ready to make history for charity with a sausage roll?"
LadBaby have teamed up with Ed Sheeran and Elton John in a bid to achieve their fourth consecutive Christmas number one and raise money for food bank charity the Trussell Trust.
Set for release on 17 December, ‘Sausage Rolls For Everyone’ will be a spin on the recent Ed Sheeran/Elton John festive single ‘Merry Christmas‘. If it does reach number one, it will be LadBaby’s fourth song to achieve this and will set a record for the most consecutive Christmas No.1’s by the same artist.
LadBaby—comprised of husband-wife duo Mark and Roxanne Hoyle—have released the biggest festive single for three years in a row, beginning in 2018 with ‘We Built This City’, a sausage roll themed remake of Starship’s 1985 hit of the same name.
In 2019, they took the prize home again with ‘I Love Sausage Rolls’, and last year with ‘Don’t Stop Me Eatin”.
All proceeds from this year’s entry ‘Sausage Rolls For Everyone’ will go straight to the Trussell Trust, a charity that works to support, and end the need for, food banks in the UK.
“Over 14 million people in the UK are currently living on food banks,” Mark Hoyle says in today’s big LadBaby song announcement video. “It’s time to bring back some Christmas magic with the power of sausage rolls,” Elton John added.
A preview of ‘Sausage Rolls For Everyone’, which will be available everywhere next Friday 17th, shows both John and Sheeran appearing in the video alongside LadBaby.
In an interview with NME earlier this year, John laughed about going up against the duo for the coveted Number One spot: “We’ve got the sausage roll man to deal with, haven’t we? We’ve got LadBaby to deal with! He seems to have the monopoly on Christmas records. And good for him!”
On their support of the LadBaby single, Sheeran noted that: “I’m proud to be supporting and featuring on LadBaby’s very fun rework of ‘Merry Christmas’. All profits will be donated to The Trussell Trust which is a very wonderful and important charity, so make sure you stream it, buy it and play it on repeat x.”
LadBaby added: “Ed and Elton are pop royalty and they’ve both had huge success at Christmas, so we’re honoured and excited to be coming together to help families this Christmas and bring back some true Christmas spirit with the power of sausage rolls!”
